The new free wi-fi that has been switched on for the town centre is proving problematic for local businesses, it has been claimed.
The system was switched on last month as part of a Welsh Government scheme to promote trade and footfall in town centres.
But at this week’s Town Council Events & Tourism Committee meeting, Tourist Information Centre Manager, Wendy Lewis, said that since it had been installed, they were facing problems with connections to their own wi-fi.
“Since we had that free wi-fi, it has knocked our wi-fi off in the office,” she said.
Cllr Sally Fitzgerald, who runs a town centre hair salon, said that her business wi-fi had been impacted too and the committee agreed to inform Cllr Ben Gwalchmai, who has led on the project, to make him aware.
“Perhaps it just needs time to settle,” said Cllr Fitzgerald.
