Motorists speeding through Leighton are being asked to slow down by one worried resident who said he was nearly struck by a speeding car this week.
Speed limits have been a controversial topic over the past year with the introduction of the new 20mph zones in Wales, but according to one resident, motorists are failing to adhere to other speed limits already in place.
Andrew Brown took to social media to share his plea after the incident in Leighton.
“The whole section is 40mph, and there are several concealed entrances,” said Mr Brown.
“So many people are massively exceeding the speed limit when they have passed the primary school and are heading towards Forden.
“This week a black VW Golf, doing at least 60mph, narrowly missed me as I was crossing the road with my elderly dog.
“I would really appreciate it if people would stick to 40mph until they’ve left the 40mph zone.”
Mr Brown added that “nothing has been done” over the broken 20mph warning lights at the primary school.
“With the lack of pavements in Leighton, it really is an accident waiting to happen.”
His post on local Facebook pages was met with widespread agreement with many people agreeing about the speeding motorists through Leighton, and some also highlighting other trouble spots.
