Council looking to build 16 homes in Llanfyllin

11/11/2024 @ 03:41

Residents living in Llanfyllin have an opportunity to have their say on plans for a proposed housing development in the town, Powys County Council has said.

The council is looking to build 16, highly insulated and eco-friendly homes on land opposite Maesydre.

The proposed development will consist of eight one-bedroom flats, four one-bedroom bungalows, two two-bedroom houses and two four-bedroom houses.

A pre-application consultation has now started, and will run until Friday, December 6, to allow interested parties to comment on the plans before a planning application is submitted.

A public exhibition is being held on Thursday, November 28, between 2-7pm at Llanfyllin Library where the proposals will be displayed and members of the design team will be available to answer any questions.

If planning permission is granted, the new homes will be owned and managed by the council and allocated to tenants through ‘Homes in Powys’ – the one stop shop for all social housing in the county.

Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys, said: “One of the priorities of the council is to tackle the housing emergency in the county and this can be achieved by building high quality council housing.

“Our proposed development in Llanfyllin is going to be important as we look to meet this priority and build a stronger, fairer, greener future for this community.

“The pre-application consultation is important as it gives the local community an opportunity to have their say on the plans before we submit a planning application.”

The pre-application consultation will close on Friday, December 6, 2024.
