Canal boat charity volunteers in demand

A long-standing Welshpool charity says it needs more volunteers to help their regular operations, as well as their annual fundraising event that keeps them afloat.

The Heulwen Trust run boat trips for disabled and community groups along the Montgomery Canal, but are looking to expand their ranks of volunteers to help operate and maintain the narrow boats.

They said someone donating as little as half a day a month could make a big difference, and are also looking for people to help organise their annual Welshpool Country Music Festival.

“Join us on the November 26 (SY21 7TE) at our AGM and find out how you can help us build a new a bright new future for our Trust, our clients and the Montgomery canal,” said a spokesperson.

“We also need volunteers to help organise and coordinate our annual fundraising event -  Welshpool Country Music Festival. Please come along to show your support and join our team.”
