The dreadful weather failed to dampen the spirits for the return of the Mayor’s Civic Service which was held this morning.
Cllr Phil Owen, who was elected before the summer, was joined by colleagues from Welshpool Town Council and other civic figures for a celebration of all that is good about the town.
Following the service at St Mary’s Church, the procession moved back to the Town Hall for community awards to be presented to individuals and organisations that had been nominated by members of the public.
The brilliant Welshpool Community Haven, who provide day services at the Ann Holloway Centre, were recognised along with CREDU, who support young and adult carers.
Individual awards were presented to popular Welshpool youth worker Gwen Evans and Mary Watkins, who volunteers at The Hub which provides a friendly place for people to gather every week in the Town Hall.
