Police have confirmed that a Welshpool man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged incident in the town over the weekend.
Sam Williams, 30, appeared at an initial hearing in Welshpool Magistrates today with his case sent straight to Crown Court due to its seriousness.
Police confirmed that the 30-year-old is charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed weapon.
It follows widespread police activity in Foundry Lane during the early hours of last Saturday morning with another local man, Marshall Carter, taking to Facebook to say that he was the alleged victim and had been hospitalised.
“Police were called to a property in Foundry Lane just after 3am on Saturday to a report of a stabbing,” a police spokesperson said. “A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.”
Williams was remanded in custody today and will appear before Mold Crown Court on December 27.
