Gotcha! – the ‘Peeping Policeman’

You’ve heard of the Sleeping Policeman, now meet the Peeping Policeman who has been ‘catching out’ hundreds of motorists this summer speeding through one Montgomeryshire village!

But all is not what it seems for the hordes of drivers who are hitting the brakes as they enter the village Penybontfawr to the north of our readership in the Tanat Valley.

The speed of vehicles through our villages has become a major concern, but the introduction of 20mph limits in Wales has proved controversial.

But it appears that one fed-up resident has taken action of their own with this life-like manikin acting as an effective traffic-calming measure.

No-one was home when we stopped off on our way back from Bala this week to find out more, but one resident passing told us: “The speeds at which cars pass through this village is frightening and this has made a difference.”
