Call for witnesses after man dies in border accident

A 59-year-old man died at the scene and his seven-year-old female passenger is fighting for her life following a road traffic accident on our border with Shropshire yesterday.

The collision occurred on the Oswestry road at around 8.50am Friday morning, and involved a grey Audi S3 saloon, which was travelling in the direction of Welshpool and a blue Volvo HGV, which was travelling in the opposite direction towards Mile End.

The youngster is said to be in a stable condition after being airlifted to hospital.

The road was closed well into the afternoon as crash investigators carried out their work, creating havoc for Bank Holiday traffic heading towards Welshpool.
