“Phased move” into new Welsh school

Pupils can expect to start moving into the new Welshpool school after the Easter break, but there is still ongoing work so it could be a waiting game for some.

Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng has been using the former Ardwyn school site due to delays to the new multi-million-pound development at Maesydre.

And education chiefs at County Hall remain cautious about committing to a date with work at the site ongoing.

“Work is still taking place and we anticipate that learners and staff will move into the new building early in the summer term,” a spokesperson told us.

“The council is meeting with the school regularly to finalise transition plans, which will see learners and school staff move from the old building into the new school in a phased basis.”
