Ysgol Llanfyllin said that its sixth formers have achieved “outstanding” A-level results today.

After two years of disruption for learners, this year has been the first time since 2019 that externally assessed exams have been held in schools and colleges and the first to be published since the opening of the new all age Ysgol Llanfyllin and its dedicated ‘Chweched’ Sixth Form Centre.

“We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all our students, families and staff members for their hard work, dedication and professionalism,” said headtecher, Dewi Owen.

“These excellent results will enable students to embark on degree courses at universities across the country with a number receiving scholarships at Aberystwyth and Bangor.

“We are delighted that all our students have gained a place at the university of their choice to study a range of courses including Technology, Medicine, Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities and the Arts.

“We would particularly like to congratulate Ben Benson and Matthew Blowers who have both secured places at Cambridge to study Engineering and Computer Science respectively after achieving 5A* grades each – an absolutely amazing achievement.”

There were outstanding individual performances this year including a remarkable 28 students (40% of the year group) achieving at least three A* and A grades or equivalent.

These included Molly Barre, Lois Beckett, Ben Benson, Matthew Blowers, Nia Christoforou, Emma Correll, Ffion Davies, Jasmine Davies, Fflur Edwards, Laura Edwards, Grace Evans, Gruffudd Evans, Joe H Evans, Holly Griffiths, Lowri Griffiths, Jaime Hall, Niall Heaton, Aaliyah Jones, Gethin Jones-Evans, Dan Lewis, Elin Lloyd-Davies, Alex Musgrave, Fabian Nancini Wilks, Cieran Page, Chloe Palin, Angharad Smith, Nathan White and Sioned Williams.

At AS level there were also some excellent performances with ten students achieving two or more A grades.

These included: Chloe Birch, Eleri Davies, Emily Fallon, Isabel Herbert, Carys Jones, Deri McCluskey, Libby Pain, Kiera Prust, Tom Weston and Sienna Williams.
