Main road to close for nine nights

Work to improve the roads in and around Welshpool will continue into September but it means a main artery in and out town will be closed for up to nine nights.

It has been confirmed that the main A458 road through Buttington Cross will be closed “in both directions overnight for essential resurfacing work”, starting from September 1.

The closures will run from 7pm-6am and continue up to September 9.

A diversion will take motorists through the B4388 Industrial Estate Road.

It is the latest in a list of road improvements for the town and its surrounding area, with extensive work already carried out on the back road and, this week, up Gungrog Hill.
