One of Welshpool’s most popular night spots will remain closed until a new landlord can be found, its owner has told MyWelshpool.
The Talbot closed its doors suddenly last month and while the reason has not been made public, owner Michelle Youens has said that she hopes it will be able to reopen soon and that she won’t be selling the business.
Ms Youens has breathed new life into the business which dates all the way back to the 16th Century, renovating the Grade II list building into one of the town’s most vibrant nights out.
But after two years, she has decided to call it a day.
“I’ve had time to have a good think, and I’ve decided to end on a high,” she said.
“I’ve loved getting The Talbot up and running. I’ve met some lovely people and made some great friends, but I have decided to let out the premises.
“I just hope it continues with its success and I can call in for a drink on a regular basis.”
The Talbot has played an important part in the rejuvenation of Welshpool’s night life, with several pubs undergoing renovations and the town waiting with bated breath for the long-awaited reopening of The Pinewood.
