Olympian backs Welshpool Family Sports Festival

Hot on the heels of finishing fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Welshpool’s very own Olympian Adele Nicoll has thrown her weight behind a free Family Sports Festival being held in the town later this month.

The excellent Feathers Association, who provide youth facilities and activities for the town’s youth down at Howell Drive, have announced the event for Sunday, August 30 (Bank Holiday Sunday).

The day at Maesydre playing fields, which runs from 10.30am-2.30pm, will consist of a traditional fun sports day for both children and adults, with multi-sports activities as well as cross-fit and Hyrox. There will also be inflatables, food & drink and live music to keep the crowds entertained.

The event has been announced “in partnership with Adele Nicoll” who has said she will be taking a break now following a busy summer in order to be ready for the indoor athletics season.

Adele represented Team GB at the Winter Olympics earlier this year in bobsleigh, but has now switched full time back to shot put to focus on trying to become a dual Olympian and qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
