Welshpool Carnival is taking shape nicely, with organisers confirming that the “amazing” Barmouth drumming group Batala Bermo will be headlining the June 27 event alongside a Strongman show.
In an update briefing delivered to town councillors, events co-ordinator Kimberly Wright said that the remaining details were being pulled together and was seeking approval on the final line-up.
And the confirmation of the Barmouth Drummers brought a glowing response from the Events & Planning Committee Chair, Chris Davies.
He said: “They are one of the finest performers I have ever seen at a carnival. They are absolutely amazing and will be an asset to the carnival.”
Councillors also approved the booking of a strongman who will deliver two shows in the main ring on the field.
Meanwhile, the Carnival working group is continuing to try and drum up support for the procession with prizes on offer across several categories for best fancy dress. They are also contacting groups in the area to encourage participation.
Ms Wright added that the Bowling Club will be opening its bar for the afternoon and that a professional sound system had been sourced for the day.
