Welshpool faces over five weeks of serious disruption from tomorrow when work starts on replacing the gas mains along Brook Street.
Powys County Council has informed residents and businesses that access will be maintained throughout the planned closure that will run until May 26.
The closure is being implemented on behalf of Wales & West Utilities, while they carry out gas mains replacement works.
The closure of the ‘Back Road’ to through traffic though has impacted services with the school bus from Guilsfield having to re-route via Arddleen instead.
Traffic is being diverted through the same route, but local knowledge means most will simply use Red Bank.
Once the work is completed, the resurfacing job will then be planned, completing the full stretch of the road that was first started earlier this year.
