Welshpool’s place in the Tour de France spotlight is already having a knock-on effect with organisers of the annual 10k run predicting a record entry next month.
Over 700 runners could well be taking part with a third of the course taking in the route that will be used by the world’s best cyclists next summer when the Tour de France starts in Welshpool on day three.
That added draw has pulled in more runners from across the country with the March 22 event set to be the biggest field yet.
“We’re really excited to be back in Welshpool and looking forward to what will hopefully be our biggest field of runners yet,” said Alan Lewis, from Adrenalin Sporting Events.
“Welshpool is really on the sporting map at the moment with the Tour de France and with Adele Nicoll inspiring us all at the Winter Olympics, so there is a real buzz around this year’s event.”
SJ Roberts and Lowfield Timber Frames are supporting the event again as Title Partners, and entries are still being taken by clicking here.
The event starts in the heart of Welshpool, where the Tour de France stage will also start next year, with competitors running through a breath-taking route that incorporates Powis Castle and the surround parklands.
