A Family Sports Festival for the whole area will take place on Sunday in Welshpool with a huge range of activities available for free from 11am-3pm.
Held in conjunction with The Feathers Association and supported by the town’s very own British athletics champion, Adele Nicoll, the event will take place at Maesydre.
The Feathers Association organise youth activities for the town’s teenagers and has a youth centre at the old swimming baths.
Adele is their local ambassador and announced the event by encouraging the town to back the event.
“The principal objective of The Feathers Association is to provide opportunities for children, young people and communities to develop in a positive way,” said Adele who won the British shot put title for the third time last weekend.
“Our town has so many great clubs and groups of people who come together to enjoy all things sports, fitness and wellbeing. I thought we could showcase as many of them as possible by having a day to run open sessions, with some live entertainment and refreshments.
“The main arena will host family favourite traditional sports day events such as egg and spoon racing and tug of war. For the children and the adults.
“Pay nothing to attend and participate. This is an event for everyone. All ages, all backgrounds.
“We have been lucky enough to secure some fantastic support for this event from local people and businesses.”
