School welcomes positive Estyn report

24/04/2025 @ 08:25

Teachers and governors at Buttington Trewern Primary School have welcomed a positive report that has been published following an inspection in February.

The school has been soundly praised for its “supportive and inclusive environment”, “Staff building strong working relationships with pupils and their families” and “a carefully structured curriculum that develops pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding systematically that enables most learners to make good progress”.

The inspector has left a couple of recommendations for the school to address, but on the whole the outcomes show what a tremendous job is being done at the school.

The full report can be viewed by clicking: Inspection report Buttington Trewern C.P. School 2025.

How the school has reacted:

Fiona Warburton, Chair of Governors

“As the Chair of the Governing Body I am pleased that Estyn has recognised the good work of the school, especially during difficult financial times and national falling pupil roll. The Governing Body is extremely proud of the staff and our learners. The report sings the strengths and contributions of our wider school community.”

Anna Griggs, Headteacher

“As headteacher, I am proud that our Estyn report celebrates the inclusive culture and ethos at BTCP. The inspection team recognised how our strong partnerships with our families, agencies and cluster of local schools ensures that most learners make good progress across all areas of the curriculum.

“My fantastic and dedicated staff team have developed a rich and exciting curriculum that ensures all learners leave school articulate, confident and capable.

“Finally, I want to give a personal thanks to our Governors who dedicate their time, experience and expertise to ensuring our school’s continual development without any financial reward.

“They are essential strategic partners, and I could not do my job without their support and challenge. I strongly encourage others to consider get involved with school governance. You too can make a positive impact on schools as learning organisations.”
