The A483 to Berriew reopened overnight following yesterday’s accident, but Dyfed-Powys Police is advising motorists to only travel if necessary this morning as the area is hit by Storm Éowyn.
Welshpool weather warnings for rain and wind are in place this morning as the storm passes through, with trees already reported on social media to have fallen on our fragile road network.
This morning, the force advised to “only travel if your journey is necessary” but to reduce speed and allow extra time if you are about and about.
Thankfully, the rain hasn’t fallen overnight at the level we had feared yesterday, but there are still strong gusts of wind which have already reached up to 100mph in Northern Ireland. Winds up to 75mph have already been recorded in west Wales this morning.
Transport for Wales is advising passengers to check their journeys are running before travel.
The forecast is for the winds to die down later today, but calm will be restored tomorrow with colder temperatures for the weekend.
