Welshpool Tractor Run could be back!

As the proceeds from the latest Welshpool Illuminated Tractor Run were delivered to another worthy cause this past week, organisers have given the clearest indication yet that it could well be back on for another run later this year.

Jenny and Kevin Clarke, who created the event four years ago, visited The Farming Community Network to hand over a whopping £5,881.60 after nearly 200 vehicles joined the latest convoy in December.

The 2024 edition was expected to be the last, with the couple revealing that the amount of work that goes into the event was impacting their family life.

But following an outpouring of support after the last brilliant event, a meeting will be held on February 9 at 10am in Costa Welshpool to discuss a possible 2025 run.

“If we get enough people to help organise, we will go ahead with an ‘event’,” said Jenny.

“The meeting at Costa is to see if anyone is seriously willing to help organise the event. Later in the year, we put requests out for volunteers to help on the night.

“Please come along and see what’s involved in the organisation and offer your time to help keep the event going ahead each year.

“We will consider organising still if we can get the help to do it.”

The December event is based out of the Livestock Market and sees a convoy of mainly illuminated tractors head out into the surrounding villages before returning to the start point. Thousands of people line the route for what has become a glorious annual spectacle.
