Welshpool Town Council have listened to what the town is looking for when it comes to a big night out, and will be organising Tina Turner and Abba tribute nights this year.
The local authority tested the water with a couple of successful concerts last year in the Town Hall, and confirmed that following a public social media poll, a Tina Turner night will be held in June and an Abba night in October.
Events co-ordinator Kimberly Wright explained that the two names came out on top of the poll that was run on Facebook.
The acts were approved by the council’s Events & Tourism Committee last night (Wednesday) with Cllr Morag Bailey saying: “These events bring a lot of people into the town.”
Following a discussion about promoting local acts, councillors agreed to look at ways of incorporating local music into the town’s carnival this summer.
