Dyfed-Powys Police discovered drugs worth around £357,000 during their raid on a Welshpool town centre house on Tuesday afternoon.

MyWelshpool was on the scene as officers fenced off the house on the corner of Chelsea Lane and High Street, as officers were joined by engineers from Scottish Power following the discovery.

This morning, the force confirmed: “Officers executed a warrant at an address in High Street, Welshpool, on Tuesday, where 340 cannabis plants, believed to be worth around £357,000, were seized.

“One man, aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of a class B drug, and illegal entry into the UK. He currently remains in police custody.”

Welshpool has become a significant hub for the national drugs trade, with previous massive cannabis farms discovered over the past year at empty town centre buildings that once hosted HSBC, Savers and The County Times. Another haul was discovered at a residence on Buttington Farm Industrial Estate.
