The family of a man who died at the Wynnstay Depot in Llansantffraid on Monday have paid tribute to him.

John Prodger, 65, from the Llanrhaeadr Y Mochnant area, died on Monday morning, prompting Dyfed-Powys Police to open an investigation in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive.

The statement issued this evening stated: “We are distraught by our loss. John will be missed by us all. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and lived life to the full and will be remembered for his friendly nature and kindness.

“John worked at Wynnstay for nearly 40 years and will be sadly missed by all his colleagues. We would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time. It has meant so much to the whole family.

“We would now like time to grieve and would ask to be given privacy in which to do so.”

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 6.20am on Monday. The death is not being treated as suspicious, but enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.
