Making the change from high school teacher to newly elected MP for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr has resulted in Steve Witherden ‘bunking’ at his cousin’s house in London and a "nerve-wracking" first day.
Mr Witherden became our first Labour representative in Parliament last week and took his seat in the UK halls of power yesterday as new Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer held his first session.
He posted a video to his X account stating: “Just leaving Dulwich to get the bus to Westminster for the first time. Bit nerve-wracking but looking forward to the day ahead.”
With the post he explained: “Special thanks to my cousin for letting me bunk at her place for my first week. I’m still learning my way around but I’m eager to get to work for the people of Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.”
It was the first time in 14 years that Labour has sat in the Government benches at Parliament, following their landslide victory in the General Election last week.
