Has Town Hall ghost been caught in action?

03/10/2023 @ 11:40

With the Town Hall set to host a huge Halloween party later this month, MyWelshpool has obtained exclusive footage of ghostly goings on captured inside the building by a newly installed CCTV.

There have been reported sightings and unexplained incidents at the 250 year-old building for decades, but it appears that the camera that has been recently installed to provide security in the market hall has captured the first evidence of something amiss!

The Town Council’s Operations Manager, Paul McGrath, said he had to refer to the CCTV after discovering that a number of items had been thrown onto the floor overnight last week.

Thinking that someone had accessed the property because it was “impossible for the items to have fallen on their own”, he said he was “shocked” to see what the CCTV revealed at about 8.30pm when the building was completely empty and locked up.

“I have had one or two strange things happen in the past whilst inside the Town Hall, but this has been caught on camera and there is no explanation other than something pushing those items over,” said Mr McGrath, who added that his team had called the potential ghost, ‘George’.

Newly elected Councillor, Sally Fitzgerald, an avid ghost hunter in her spare time, said that she had experienced plenty of poltergeist activity at the Town Hall in recent years.

“It’s honestly the best place I have ever investigated, as there is lots going on in there,” said Cllr Fitzgerald.

“I was in the cellar with two spirit boards on the go at the same time and it turns out it was the same family talking to us. It was absolutely amazing. There’s definitely lots going on there.”

The Halloween Parade and Party, on Tuesday, October 31, starts from 5.30pm. Tickets are free, but must be booked through kimberly@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk.
