Arrest after Welshpool Saturday night incident

Welshpool town centre saw a huge police operation in the early hours of Sunday, and it was confirmed that a man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a weapon.

Readers contacted us on Sunday morning to say there was a significant police presence in the town at day break, with two police cars and a van spotted at one point close to The Cross.

And this morning Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that they had been responding to an incident.

“Following an incident in Welshpool town centre in the early hours of Sunday, a 45-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a weapon in a public place. He has been released on conditional bail pending further police enquiries.”
