Double medallist set for Welshpool Family Sports Day

Double Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Dan Jones will be coming home to Welshpool this Bank Holiday Sunday for the Feathers Family Sports Festival taking place at Maesydre.

The 29-year-old thrilled us all with two podium finishes in the pool earlier this month at the Glasgow event, and will be showing off his medals alongside the town’s very own Olympian, Adele Nicoll, on August 30.

“There’s something special about going back to where it all began,” said Dan, who is based these days in Swansea.

“It’s great to be attending The Feathers Family Sports Festival, a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together through sport.

“It will be lovely to see some familiar faces, meet new ones and hopefully inspire the next generation to get involved, dream big and see where sport can take them.”

Adele announced Dan’s homecoming by urging followers to “bring the family down to chat to Dan and get a photo with our local super star”.

The free day of activities and fun will be held from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
