Quizzers and freemasons support Welshpool Hub

Money continues to come in from various community sources to support the Welshpool Hub which is open to all twice a week at the Town Hall.

The Powis Lodge of Freemasons, based in Welshpool, handed over a cheque for £300 following their annual Ladies Festival, with a further £300 donation handed over from other charity funds.

Lodge member Phil Addicott, accompanied by three other lodge members, presented Cllr. Nick Howells (centre) with the two cheques totalling £600.

Cllr. Howells said: “All of us who operate and work at the Hub are hugely grateful to the Powis Lodge for their kind and generous donations. We are volunteers, so every penny will be used to benefit The Hub and all the people who choose to visit and eat with us on a Tuesday and Thursday. This wonderful donation will certainly help to buy quite a few baking potatoes!”

Meanwhile, Cllr Howells led a team of volunteers from the Hub to take part in the first quiz of the year held by The Old Bakehouse.

Despite their best efforts, the team finished last but picked up a healthy donation of £100 from the evening.

“Many thanks to Paul and The Old Bakehouse, it is very much appreciated.”
