Outdoor theatre returns to Powis Castle on Saturday

Powis Castle and Garden are hosting two outdoor theatre performances on the East Front Lawn during August, with the first this Saturday.

Mewn Cymeriad will be performing Welsh Princes: Llewelyn - the last Prince of Wales? at 11am in Welsh first, then a second hour-long English performance will follow at 1pm.

Attendees are encouraged to roll out their picnic blankets and be whisked back to 1282 to hear the tale of Prince Llewelyn being chased for miles on his horse by the army of King Edward I.

The performances are aimed for children aged between 5 and 12 and takes them on a journey in an educational, light-hearted and fun manner.

Date: Saturday, August 17. Times: 11am-12pm (Welsh performance) and 2pm-3pm (English performance). A second performance on Saturday, August 31, comes from Stan’s Café Theatre Company entitled A Theatrical Journey Down the River Severn at Powis Castle and Garden.

There are two performances, with one at 11am and the next at 2pm, to teach more about the history, extraordinary nature, ecology, geology, famous sights and people, alongside fascinating and beguiling myths of the history of the River Severn.
