Story with a happ-bee ending!

Last year one of the big stories that got our readers hot under the collar was the demand by Powys County Council for a community to return their delightful bee garden back to its previous sorry state.

The council was unhappy that the residents in Guilsfield hadn’t asked for permission but, backed by a MyWelshpool story, they lobbied the regional authority who, following a backlash, allowed the garden to remain.

A few months later and it is blooming, and thanks to the talented pupils of the primary school across the road, it now has the addition of a fitting piece art.

Cole Greatorex (pictured) won a competition amongst pupils to create an artwork for the bee garden, and there were prizes for all who took part, with the the winners from each year group also receiving a little bundle of goodies.

Cole’s painting has been framed and positioned in the garden for residents to enjoy.

He was joined at the unveiling by head teacher, Mrs Amanda Williams, as well as Mrs. Windsor and Mrs. Cooke, the two local residents who originally approached the Community Council with the idea to create the garden.
