Penrhos Sports Day to celebrate 90th year

Penrhos and District Sports and Show will celebrate its 90^th year when it is held on Saturday, July 6 at Bron Heulog.

The event was originally created pre-World War 2 in 1935 to provide children with a fun day out, and despite cancellations due to the war, foot and mouth and Covid, it has never been postponed due to the weather.

There is plenty for all of the children to take part in, with the added incentive of a school competition with £100 going to the winning school, £50 for second and £30 for third.

The ‘Show’ part of the day started in 1986 and has grown into a popular event on its own with children of all ages encouraged to take enter in all sort of classes.

“Asides from the competitions, there are all sorts of fun and games to be had and a good offering of refreshments can be found in the tea tent, stalls and BBQ,” said a spokesperson.
