A team from the Montgomeryshire & District Airgun League, captained by Alan Baker, returned from the Swindon Open tournament with a number of honours.
It is a well-supported tournament with entries from leagues a cross the UK but the local shooters did our area proud by demonstrating the high quality of target shooting within the league.
Shooting at a distance of 7yds (6.4m) at paper targets, each shooter having 2 targets, 6 shots on each with a clean bull (1mm) scoring 10 points, 60 points maximum score per target. They were shooting in groups according to their averages and shooting ability.
Two open titles were brought back to Mid Wales.
Paul Gwilliam, who not only won Group 'A' but the overall individual title as well with a fantastic display of target shooting, scoring 60 on each of his targets resulting in a maximum score of 120, and Joe Hilditch who claimed the Junior title with a combined score of 112 and also came sixth in the 'A' class.
Other notable successes were:
Jane Thomas, runner up in the Ladies and fifth in the 'A' class.
Adam Hilditch, fourth in the 'A' class.
Alan Baker, third in the 'B' class.
Tabitha Corbett, third in the juniors and fifth in the 'B' class
Luke Evans, fourth in group and juniors.
Notable contributions were also made by Sue Brown and Gary Powell
