Derrick Arthur only managed a third place in the final round of the Seniors Winter League at Welshpool Golf Club but it was still enough to see him clinch the title.
Arthur finished third behind Stan Rawlings and Mike Kendall but the 25 handicapper won the league with 44 points, seven ahead of second placed captain Alun Evans who finished a point ahead of Rawlings.
And Rawlings (23) was still on fine form for the Seniors Three-Club Competition, winning with 31 points from Richie Amyes (27) on 28 points and Peter Dixon (22) on 26.
Saturday’s fourball-betterball was won by Mike Williams(7) and Ian Davies(21) on 64, edging out Kevin Morris (10) and Steve Proctor (14) on the countback.Roger Davies ((20) and Graham Moss (15) were third on 65.
Sunday’s Swindle Stabelford was won by John (Angus) Painter (27) with 35 points, beating Graham Moss ((15) and Mal Dutton (19) on the countback.
