Welshpool Rugby Club’s start to the Division 2 North East season has been mixed as they were put to the sword by a strong Wrexham side on the weekend.
After a win and a draw, Welshpool travelled north in good spirits, knowing a win could place either side at the top of the table.
But they were up against it from the start, going into the break 22-3 down and eventually losing 55-8 to a side fancied by many to win the league.
Meanwhile, in North Wales Division One, Cobra ended a run of three defeats with a spirited 26-23 victory over Abergele to ease themselves off the bottom.
