Police make arrest following last night's blaze

A man has been arrested and is tonight in custody as police stepped up inquiries into last night’s blaze which gutted Canalside Carpets.

The 48-year-old, who is believed to live locally is reported to have been arrested this afternoon.

The blaze completely burnt out stock at the carpet warehouse along with two vehicles and a forklift truck affecting adjoining sister company SWG Builders – though both companies were keen to point out that it’s business as usual.
