26/05/2017 @ 02:18

Organisers are counting down the days to Monday’s Welshpool Carnival with plenty of sunshine forecast for the big occasion.

As usual townsfolk and visitors are expected to line the streets to cheer on the procession containing Carnival Queen Macie Lockwood when it leaves Berriew Street Car Park at 1pm and heads up Broad Street.

The parade will be headed by Ifton Colliery Band and the theme of this year’s event is  “The Movies” so expect plenty of colour.

All those taking part in the procession are to arrive at the car park for 12:15 ready for judging ahead of the parade to the Maesydre Recreation Ground where there will plenty of activities to keep visitors happy.

Entry to the Maesydre is by donation with volunteers from the Town Council organised event on hand with buckets to collect money.

The field will be full of various attractions and entertainment such as, fairground rides, bouncy castles/inflatables, quad bike rides and donkey rides. Look out for ‘The Gorillas’ - four realistic mountain gorillas.

A companion dog show will be located at the far end of the carnival field, for more information on the dog show please contact John and Linda Dover tel: 01938 554056.

Performances in the main arena start from 2pm, with local groups Angel Voice School, Adiict Dance and Tribe Dance Academy, as well as Tess Spencer (Winner of Welshpool’s Talent Show) all performing on the day.
