The Wales Air Ambulance based at Welshpool costs an average of £1,500 to perform each mission, we can confirm.
The figure was revealed as the new Airbus H145, replacing the previous EC135, checked in for duty at its Welshpool base, where a lifesaving chopper has been stationed since 2006.
“The new helicopter is the third generation, each being larger and carrying more equipment than its predecessor,” said a spokesperson at the airport.
“The larger body allows more procedures to be carried out in the air as well as travelling further and faster.”
Meanwhile, over on its Twitter page, the charity shared that it costs £1,500 on average per mission in order to raise awareness of the costs involved to keep it going.
