Free boat trips on the canal

20/02/2017 @ 09:32

The Heulwen Trust is taking part in Disabled Access Day by providing free boat trips on Sunday, March 12.

This national scheme encourage people with disabilities to access facilities near them so play their part, the Trust offering anyone with a disability (and their carer) a free boat trip along the Montgomery canal.

These trips are in addition to their usual free weekday trips for groups of individuals who are less abled (full details are available on www.heulwentrust.co.uk).

“Our canal boats have passenger lifts to enable level access to the canal boats for passengers and wheelchairs,” said a Trust spokesperson. “The boats are heated and have large windows to give our passengers an unusual view of country side.  We also have a small open air deck at the front of the boat.”

The scheduled two-hour trip will leave from the Welshpool Town Wharf located off the car park beside the Welshpool Tourist Information Centre. From the car park there is step free access to the boats. The trips will last about two hours. If there is enough interest, they will run additional trips.

Booking is essential so contact info@heulwnetrust.co.uk or call James Grieve on 07821 106025 or 01597 840231.
