Mid Wales Housing Association needs to have clearer succession plans for key staff and members but is otherwise doing well, according to a government report.
The association received the positive review from the Welsh Government’s Housing Regulation Team.
It said the association had sound finances, a strong and robust Board of Management, high levels of tenant satisfaction with landlord services.
But it suggested having clearer succession plans for when key staff and members leave and it could also improve the management of its risk of major new building developments.
Shane Perkins, the association’s Chief Executive said: “I am very pleased with this report which reflects the Association’s hard work to strengthen the critical areas of finance, governance and tenant services.”
The report also highlighted areas where the regulator felt the Association could improve further, in particular, the management of its risk of major new building developments.
Mr Perkins said: “This was not a surprise to the Association, as we have already made changes to address this. We have invested in a new project assessment package, introduced scenario testing, and implemented a Board oversight group for a major scheme planned in Ceredigion.”
David O Evans, the Association’s Chair, was also pleased that the high calibre of the Board had been recognised, and added: “The need for clear succession plans for key staff and Members has been recognised by the Board, and the Association will shortly be advertising for new Board Members to strengthen its governance arrangements.”
