A ‘Rigorous’ fundraiser for Aled
Young Aled Owen's condition doesn’t stop him having fun but there is a stumbling block to him fully joining in… a bike.
Help is at hand with a group of fund raisers determined to put that right and raise the £4,000 required through sweat and tears to purchase the special duet bike.
Welshpool’s very own professional boxer Warren ‘BigRig’ Sinden (pictured with Aled) is organising a 36-hour ‘Rigathon’ at his gym with slots open for one-hour personal training sessions with the proceeds going towards purchasing the bike.
He is no stranger to putting himself through the ringer to be in top shape, and last year he undertook 26 hours of personal training tuition for charity, but this promises to push him to the limit.
“Myself, Michael Davies, Colin Smith and Yasmin Suddell thought it was the best way to work with Warren and his Rigorous gym to raise money to provide Aled with a duet bike so that he can enjoy going out like other children his own age,” said organiser Rhian Suddell.
“The challenge will start October 15 at 8am until 8pm the following evening and anybody wanting to book a one-hour slot with a payment of £15 can contact Warren.
“You can bring up to three friends who can make a donation on the day as well.
“There will also be a raffle with various prizes that have been kindly donated by some of the local businesses and also collection boxes in most of Ambercabs' taxis and buses, Cocos, Tuckbox, First Stop, the Cock Forden, Pheasant and Talbot to name just a few."
