Independent coaching inn operator, The Coaching Inn Group, which owns The Royal Oak Hotel in Welshpool, has been named Best Accommodation Operator and Best Pub Employer in a prestigious national award-ceremony presented by Jonathan Ross.

The Publican Awards 2017, which were held at Battersea Evolution in London this week saw The Coaching Inn Group scoop top awards at the ceremony, the largest industry awards event which recognises excellence in the pub company sector across the UK.

The Coaching Inn Group has built a strong reputation in the industry for transforming underperforming historic coaching inns and turning them into busy and profitable establishments.

With 13 award-winning properties, including The Royal Oak Hotel, the Group has continued to grow year on year.

With a planned £50 million expansion programme to increase the portfolio to 25 well underway, the Group has already acquired one landmark coaching inn this year, with a further two planned this Spring.

Commenting on the award wins, The Coaching Inn Group CEO, Kevin Charity, said: “We operate in an incredibly competitive arena, so we’re absolutely delighted to win not one but two awards.

“The accolades are a real reflection of the work we’ve been doing in recent years in investing in our teams, as well as restoring our coaching inns to their former glory.

“This recognition couldn’t have been achieved without the unparalleled hard-work and dedication to service excellence from our teams.”

Last year, the Group was named one of ten UK companies to watch in The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100.
